Between the 1930s and 1960s, under first-generation leadership, the Group was active in the following business areas:

. Building construction
. Iron, manganese, and nickel mining
. Import and trade of construction equipment
. Generation and distribution of electricity
. Telephony
. Textile industry
. Steel industry and metallurgy
. Agropastoral enterprise


During this first phase, the three pioneers also launched businesses that resulted in the creation of companies such as Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD), Aços Especiais Itabira (Acesita), Companhia Níquel Tocantins, and Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN).




In the 1970s to 1990s, under second-generation leadership, Grupo ASAMAR operated in:

. Cement
. Limestone, clay, and gypsum mining
. Ready-mixed concrete
. Road freight transport
. Real estate development
. Ethanol production
. Reforestation and wood charcoal production
. Agriculture and livestock
